6 Agave Fibre
A fibre obtained from the leaf of the Agave Americana. White to pale yellow in colour, short in length, hard in feel, is very strong, has much elasticity and is wavy. Used in the manufacture of a lace for decorative uses and for cordage. It is chiefly found in Mexico and Central and South America. The plant gives leaves 8-ft. to 10-ft. long and 1-ft. wide and yields 6 to 10 per cent of fibre. They are called "century plants" because it was thought they flowered once only in 100 years but it is known that the flowering depends upon its cultivation methods. Also known as American Aloe. -
7 Epingle Brocade
A dress cloth made from white silk warp and dyed wool weft. The cloth has a jacquard figure made by floating the white warp over the coloured weft. The ground has fine cross-over ribs and, in addition, thick fancy cords are woven transversely, with the white warp predominantly covering groups of picks, hut allowing the colour to show through at selected points in decorative fashion. -

This term has various meanings. In a plain weaving district such as Rawtenstall or Burnley, a drill is a fancy cloth, while in a shed where jacquards are used the weavers would call a brocade leno a fancy. Generally a fancy cloth is any cloth that exhibits some additional decorative feature of weave, colour, fancy yarns, etc.
